Potter Revisited Episode #32 An Introduction to Introductory Courses AKA Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Chapter 14 "Cornelius Fudge"
- The Trios belief in Hagrid is admirable
- Tori is shocked about how much school Colin and Justin have missed being petrified - are their parents aware?
- Harry and friends are choosing their new courses for the next year - which is very important as we compare picking electives in High School
- Shay thinks it's smart the kids can't drop subjects at this point
- Were they given any information about the new courses? Or just going off family and friends advice?
- Hermione chooses all the subject which makes sense at this point - she has an interest in all of them but it is so irresponsible that she was allowed to take them all by messing with time - more on that next book!
- We discuss the subjects we would like to take
- Harry's part of the dorm in ransacked and the diary is missing - Is Harry more alarmed its missing because it could potentially affect Hagrid or is it the affects of the Diary being taken away from him?
- Hermione suddenly comes to a realization about everything... and doesn't tell Harry or Ron anything
- "When in doubt, go to the Library"
- Why does Hermione go off on her own without confiding with Harry and Ron? Tori explains her theory
- Quidditch is canceled and Hermione has been Petrified - the danger is really hitting close to home now
- Hermione being taken out of action really shows how much Harry and Ron rely on her and what her friendship means to them - very different from the last book
- Percy's girlfriend is also petrified and he isn't able to confide in anyone
- We both have some sympathy for Percy - the real black sheep of the Weasley family.
- Harry and Ron go to see Hagrid, and he opens the door... armed
- Shay thinks Hagrid needs to remain silent and hire a good lawyer
- We are first introduced to Cornelius Fudge and the comparison between him and Dumbledore is stark. Fudge seems more concerned about optics than if Hagrid is actually guilty or not
- Dumbledore goes off about loyalty - does he know Harry and Ron are there?
- Shay wonders if Dumbledore was able to read Harry's mind
- We discuss what we know about the Wizard justice system and if it actually works
- Shay finds that Azkaban is more like torture than a prison - would those who commit low level crimes go there? What about Hagrid- he isn't being officially charged and sentenced
- We see some characters go to prison without trial (Sirius) and the Wizengamot is what we see voting on sentencing - not an impartial jury
- How do being able to view memories and veritaserum play a part in providing evidence? Can both be tampered with?
- We cut a segment about the Trio + Ginny's careers after Hogwarts/The war and how it doesn't really stand up to how we view the characters. Let us know if you'd like some of it for a bonus episode!
